Allen
Bench Jeweler
Allen joined the Don Basch team in December of 2019. He recognizes that the sentimental value of jewelry is typically much greater than its actual price tag, so he takes great pride in making sure that every piece he works on is treated with the utmost care. The opportunity to take a piece that is in disrepair and restore it to its original beauty is what makes him look forward to returning to his bench each day.
Allen's passion for creating jewelry began when he was just four and started collecting pretty rocks that he would find and tying them to string to make necklaces. He recalls being in awe of the fact that he could put these little discarded pieces together to create something beautiful. He continued making jewelry of his own and growing his passion for jewelry working with beads, knotted necklaces and wire wrapping crystals into his teens. After completing an apprenticeship with a jeweler in his home town of Richmond Virginia, Allen relocated to Asheville, North Carolina where he worked primarily on custom 23k gold fabrications and fired enamel. After taking a hiatus from jewelry to pursue his passion for culinary arts in the foodie paradise that is Asheville where he managed several high-volume kitchens, Allen realized that his heart is at the bench and decided to return to jewelry. He feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work side by side with the very talented Don Basch team each and every day.
Allen resides in Kent with his family and their two dogs. In his spare time, he still loves to spend time in the kitchen. Allen most enjoys experimenting with new recipes, especially those that are inspired by traditional Indian dishes.
